Abstract
Reading is one of the fundamental skills in foreign language learning. It enables students to develop vocabulary, improve grammatical awareness, acquire knowledge, and understand different types of texts. However, successful reading requires more than the ability to recognize words and sentences. Learners need effective reading strategies that help them understand information, identify main ideas, predict content, and interpret meaning. This article examines the importance of forming reading strategies in English language teaching, describes the major types of reading strategies, and discusses practical techniques that teachers can use to develop students’ reading competence.References
