Abstract
This article analyzes the issues of or, oriyat, iffat, g‘urur, sharaf, and nomus, which constitute the basis of the concept of “or-nomus.” The denotative meanings, connotative meanings, and other context-dependent semantic interpretations of each seme are examined. The study also explores the origin of the lexemes that form the concept of “or-nomus,” which is widely used in the Uzbek language, as well as their semantic development and the main components within their semantic structure. In the course of the research, the etymological sources of these lexical units, their usage in historical and lexicographical sources, and the layers of meaning they possess in modern Uzbek are analyzed through comparative and descriptive methods. The semantic fields of the words or and nomus, their semantic proximity and differences, are identified, and the role of these concepts within the system of national mentality and moral values is analyzed from a linguocultural perspective. The results of this study contribute to enriching research in Uzbek linguistics in the areas of conceptual semantics, etymology, and linguoculturology
