Abstract
This article investigates metaphorical phrases as linguistic realizations of underlying conceptual structures, drawing on the core assumptions of Cognitive Linguistics. Building on Conceptual Metaphor Theory (Lakoff & Johnson, 1980), the study treats metaphor not as a decorative rhetorical device but as a systematic mechanism through which abstract concepts are encoded and accessed in language. The research addresses how metaphorical phrases function as stable conceptual encodings that reflect embodied experience and culturally shared knowledge (Gibbs, 1994; Kövecses, 2002).References
