Abstract

The flavonoid composition of the aerial parts of Cicer songaricum Stephan ex DC. was investigated. Five flavonoid compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions using column chromatography. Their chemical structures were elucidated based on UV, IR, ^1H NMR, and ^13C NMR spectral data. The isolated compounds were identified as kaempferol, quercetin, isorhamnetin, isorhamnetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, and isoquercitrin. The obtained results indicate that Cicer songaricum is an important natural source of biologically active flavonoids.
