Abstract

In this article, we conduct a comparative analysis of traditional and digital payment schemes, evolving from cash to modern cryptocurrency systems. The article examines three classic payment models (cash, check, and card) in comparison with modern digital solutions, including digital wallets, biometric authentication, and cryptocurrencies. Particular attention is paid to the three-layer architecture of payment schemes according to the W3C classification (policy, data flow, mechanism), as well as the problem of fragmentation of the payment infrastructure.
