Abstract
This article examines the representation of the convict experience in colonial Australian literature, focusing on how early narratives portrayed punishment, survival, identity, and transformation within the penal system. Drawing on key texts from the 19th century, the study explores the moral, social, and psychological dimensions of convict life and their influence on the formation of Australian cultural identity. The analysis reveals that convict narratives not only documented historical realities but also contributed to shaping national consciousness by reinterpreting themes of exile, resilience, and redemption.References
