COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF METAPHORS USED IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH POETIC TEXTS

Abstract

This article is devoted to a comparative analysis of metaphors in Uzbek and English poetic texts. The study applies the vehicle-tenor-ground model to identify the semantic and structural characteristics of artistic metaphors. The analysis examines the similarities and differences between the metaphors of the two languages in terms of artistic expression, imagery, and semantic depth. It also addresses the influence of cultural and linguistic context on the creation and reception of metaphor, as well as the challenges that arise in artistic interpretation and translation. By integrating a cognitive approach with literary analysis, the article expands the theoretical and practical possibilities of metaphor analysis and offers scientifically grounded recommendations for translators and literary scholars on identifying metaphorical meaning, providing semantic explanation, and ensuring cultural adaptation.
